Botanizing tour February 2008 (For pictures of this tour please visit my blog at http://lifestyleseeds.multiply.com/ ) The tourgroup consisted of Ellen Hornig of the USA, Dr. John Manning of the Compton Herbarium and Cameron McMaster. Cameron took Ellen and John on one of his Eastern Cape tours and I took over for the Lesotho and Drakensberg section. Day 1 :
Enter Lesotho and travel through to Semongkong Lodge. Highlights : Gladiolus papilio, Gladiolus saundersiae, Kniphofia caulescens in thousands, Bold Ibis

Day 2 :
Spend the day walking from Semongkong Lodge to the Malutsenyane waterfall botanizing on the way. Highlights : Pachucarpus rigidus, Szhizoglossum bidens

Day 3 :
Travel from Semongkong to Katse Lodge. See the Katse dam project and the facinating Mafika Lisiu Pass. Highlights : Kniphofia thodei, Kniphofia ritualis, Helichrysum basuticum

Day 4 :
Visit the artist town of Clarens, walk in Golden Gate National Park and then to Sterkfontein reserve at the foot of the Drakensberg mountains. Highlights : Galtonia viridiflora, Berkheya rosulata, Xerophyta viscosa, Kniphofia triangularis.

Day 5 :
Walk up Sentinel peak in the Drakensberg and spend the whole day botanising on the mountain. Highlights : Kniphofia breviflora, Crocosmia pearsii, Ranunculus baurii, Eucomis schiffii, Cyrtanthus flanaganii, Albuca fastigiata

Day 6 :
Visit Kerkenberg and see Kniphofia multiflora. Drive around the Sterkfontein dam and do botanizing. Tour end here with a lot of highlights seen.
